Seniors Christmas Party 2015
THREE HIERARCHS SENIOR CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY
The Senior Club, led by President Helen Pavlides and assisted by her elves, got into the spirit of the season as they enjoyed a very delightful Christmas Party with Christmas music and delicious food from Perry’s, our unofficial caterer. There were even table prizes. The winner at each table was the one with the most keys. There was much tinkling, rattling and laughter as everyone scrounged through their pockets and handbags to see if they had the winning number of keys. The visitor in red with the white beard was not Santa Claus, but Father Eugene, who came down to give us his usual interesting commentary.Coming up are our Valentine’s Day Party (wear red) on Wednesday, February 10th and Chinese New Year Party (bring your chopsticks) complete with Chinese Auction on Wednesday, February 17th. If you are not yet a member but think you might like to be, come and enjoy the fun! You’ll make new friends, and might be reunited with some old ones! We welcome new member.s. We meet almost every Wednesday except during the summer, and dues are$10.00 a year.

THREE HIERARCHS LADIES PHILOPTOCHOS ANNUAL LUNCHEON JANUARY 18, 2016An elegant, fun-filled afternoon was enjoyed by around 180 people at the Ladies Philoptochos Annual Luncheon at Russo’s-on-the-Bay, a beautiful catering hall in Howard Beach, Queens. After being welcomed by Father Eugene Pappas, Philoptochos President Kay Diamond, Luncheon Chairlady Effie Galiatsatos and other speakers, the guests wined and dined on delicious entrees which included steak, salmon and Chicken Francese, topped off with scrumptious assorted pastries. They danced to the Greek music of Thomas Vrettos and enjoyed reunions with acquaintances from other churches. Many were lucky enough to win one or more of the many valuable, enticing raffle prizes, which included cash prizes, baskets of cheer, gift certificates to restaurants and beautiful jewelry.A special treat was the much anticipated appearance of Nickie Theophilus, a longtime, very beloved, devoted and generous church and Philoptochos member who is recuperating from a stroke last spring and has been unable to attend church regularly. The Philoptochos gratefully acknowledges and thanks all those who donated cash and prizes, including Avenue J Florist, whose beautiful donated flower arrangements have adorned this and many other Three Hierarchs events throughout the years, and all those who worked so hard to make this luncheon a success. Special thanks go to President Kay Diamond, Vice Presidents Susan Jannace and Maria Diamond, all Philoptochos board members, Luncheon Chairlady Effie Galiatsatos, Reservations Chairpersons Marie Paizis and Effie Paraponiaris, Treasurer Eleftheria Xenakis, Grand Raffle Chairpersons Effie Pappas and Eleutheria Theologis, Chinese Auction Chairpersons Maria Diamond and Mary Plessias, Money Tree Chairperson Niki Bouroutis, Door Prize Chairlady Evanthea Karounos. The Annual Luncheon is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Philoptochos, a philanthropic organization whose name means “Friends of the Poor”. The Philoptochos is alway eager to welcome new members. If you would like to join, or would like more information, please contact the church office or any Philoptochos member. Check for more pictures in the Organization category and gallery.
