Seniors Halloween party 2015
HALLOWEEN AT THE SENIOR CLUB
Wednesday, October 28, 2015
Witches carrying jack-o-lanterns full of candy and Groucho Marx look-alikes haunted the hallowed halls of Three Hierarchs recently as the Senior Club celebrated Halloween. Could those ladies behind the elegant masks have been Katie Hambas and Dimitra? Could those guys sporting the Groucho masks have been Bill Theodosakis and Bingo caller Peter Gardianos? Fotini Daniel looked beautiful in a white bridal veil and tiara. She was celebrating a more personal occasion: her wedding anniversary. After playing their tricks, the celebrants received their treats: delicious desserts, including homemade Greek pastry prepared by the club’s own outstanding bakers. Then everyone won and lost small fortunes playing Bingo.
If you are not a member yet but would like to join in the fun, come on down almost any Wednesday afternoon from 1pm to 3pm. We are always delighted to welcome new members. Dues are only $10 a year. The club does not meet on the Wednesdays before Thanksgiving and Christmas because we are all home making holiday preparations.

Our annual commemoration of ‘ OXI ‘ Day this year by our Greek School Children marks the 75th anniversary of a heroic stand against the forces of fascism and an affirmation of the values that are essential for human life and well-being.
On October 28, 1940 , faced with an ultimatum from Benito Mussolini to allow the Italian army to occupy Greece, the Prime Minister of Greece Ioannis Metaxas and the people of Greece responded with a resounding ” NO.” Even before the time to respond to the ultimatum had expired, Italian forces began entering Greece over the border from Albania. However, in the spirit of the reply of ” NO, ” Greek forces resisted fiercely, keeping the Axis forces out of Greece for almost six months.
